ABOUT US

IYENGAR YOGA IN SYDNEY'S WEST

Bruce and Helen were Iyengar Yoga teachers at Springwood Yoga Studio in the Blue Mountains. When we decided to start our own studio, we moved to Penrith, in Sydney's Western Suburbs. At the time, there was no Iyengar Yoga between Sydney's Inner Western suburbs and the Blue Mountains. We are committed to offering Iyengar Yoga in the Western plains of Sydney and we are thrilled to now have a team of 4 certified Iyengar Yoga teachers, with Kathryn  and Simone having joined us.

WHAT IS IYENGAR YOGA?

The certification process for Iyengar Yoga teachers is done as an apprenticeship with a Senior teacher with many years of teaching behind them. The apprenticeship process takes some years and includes a rigorous independent assessment process that has been carefully refined over many decades. Iyengar Yoga teachers study anatomy and physiology as well as styles of learning and the tiered structure of the Iyengar method. We maintain our connection with senior teachers, attending regular professional development weekends and workshops and conventions.

QUALITY YOGA

AUTHENTICITY

Iyengar Yoga is the style of yoga brought to the West by BKS Iyengar. The Ramamani Memorial Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune, India is still run by the Iyengar family and senior Iyengar yoga teachers regularly visit the Institute. The Iyengar Yoga lineage of teachers ensures that Iyengar Yoga is practised with consistency across the globe, while allowing for the creativity of an individual teacher and practitioner to flourish.

LEARNING

Yoga is a transformational practice which can facilitate personal development. Those who enjoy Iyengar Yoga are those looking to take on a physical practice in a supportive, creative, inspiring environment.
